Appl Environ Microbiol. 2004 Aug;70(8):4775-83.The P. chrysogenum protein PcGAP1 complements a homologous mutation in S. cerevisiae. P. chrysogenum PcGAP1 was overexpressed in an S. cerevisiae gap1 dip5 double mutant. P. chrysogenum PcGAP1 shows higher homology to the S. cerevisiae general amino acid permease GAP1 and the transport characteristics of PcGAP1 expressed in the double mutant indicate that it encodes the general amino acid permease of P. chrysogenum.
