J Biol Chem. 1999 Jun 11;274(24):17219-25.The H. sapiens protein Q00613 complements a homologous mutation in S. cerevisiae. Although human HSF1 is an inactive monomer in yeast that is unable to substitute for the essential yeast HSF protein, mutations in the linker region between the DNA binding domain and the first coiled-coil allow human HSF1 to homotrimerize and rescue the viability defect of a hsf yeast strain.
